About the Role

As a result of continued business expansion, we are seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to join our team in Somersby on the Central Coast.

Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer, your new role will be responsible for managing the company's tax obligations, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations. This role involves working with external tax advisors and senior management to develop and implement tax strategies, overseeing tax reporting and compliance, and providing tax advice to senior management.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining tax compliance framework, procedures and processes in line with Top 500 private group guidelines
  • Managing all direct (e.g. corporate income tax, R&D) and indirect taxes (GST, payroll tax, BAS)
  • Conducting analysis of all taxes to provide advice on tax planning and optimisation opportunities whilst ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Coordinating and managing tax audits, inquiries and notices from tax authorities
  • Providing guidance and support on tax implications of business decisions and transactions
  • Monitoring changes in tax legislation and ensure the group maintains compliance and an optimised tax position
  • Collaborating with external tax advisors and auditors as needed

 To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • Professional qualification of CA or CPA
  • Strong understanding of tax planning strategies and experience in managing income tax, FBT, GST and other indirect taxes
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in tax management, preferably in corporate or chartered accounting practice
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Knowledge of taxation management across multiple business types including manufacturing, farming, property management and development
  • Proactive attitude towards process improvement
  • Ability to cope with ever changing business
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred but not essential
