About the Role

We are currently seeking an ambitious Purchasing Officer to join our team in Somersby on the Central Coast. In this busy and diverse role, you will be responsible for investigating and sourcing materials and placing orders for various departments across our business. 

This role will work across various entities in the group and will primarily involve:

• Identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers in China to ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and reliability.
• Negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers.
• Ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and international trade regulations.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to support long-term collaboration.
• Handling purchase orders, delivery schedules, and monitor supplier performance.
• Communicating closely with internal teams (logistics, quality control, finance) to ensure smooth order fulfillment.
• Translating key procurement documents and communications (Mandarin ↔ English).
• Staying updated on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supplier capabilities.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (both written and spoken).
• Proven experience (at least 3 years) in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management—preferably with Chinese suppliers.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to analyze cost structures.
• Familiarity with import/export processes, customs requirements, and Incoterms.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
• Proficiency in procurement software, Excel, and ERP systems.
• Strong cultural awareness and understanding of Chinese business etiquette
• Experience working in a cross-border team.
• Ability to travel to China for supplier visits (if needed).
