Lasertek is a sheetmetal manufacturing company within the Borg Group. Lasertek manufactures superior quality laser cut components and products. Lasertek offers complete sheetmetal manufacturing solutions including drafting, laser cutting and sheetmetal fabrication (Folding and Welding). Lasertek supplies the engineering, catering, signage, manufacturing and mining support industries. Located in Somersby, Lasertek has a skilled team of Engineering Draftsmen, Sheetmetal Fabricators, Design Engineers and Laser Profile Operators.

The Role

We are looking for a hands on Production Coordinator to join our team based at Somersby on the NSW Central Coast. You will manage a small team of employees whilst being responsible for planning, coordinating and applying the best engineering practices to ensure production, project and operating requirements are met.

Responsibilities include:

  • Day to day, shop floor supervision of team members to ensure work schedules, safety and quality standards are maintained
  • Coordinate schedules, rostering, time keeping records and staffing levels whilst ensuring efficient performance of staff
  • Remain an active member (on tools) of both the laser department and fabrication team as and when required
  • Supervise and provide support and development to apprentices to ensure appropriate training and development is provided
  • Ensure required training is developed and delivered to staff
  • Developing and recommending methods of procedures for the operation of machinery and equipment
  • Liaise with production units to coordinate repairs, safety inspections and supply of equipment

 To be considered for this position you will:

  • Have relevant engineering/trade qualifications
  • Have high technical and analytic skills with the ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints
  • Have experience in managing a team within a manufacturing environment
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have experience in machine trouble shooting, problem solving and fault finding an advantage
  • Have laser CAD/CAM experience an advantage
  • Have experience operating/programming laser and plasma equipment an advantage
  • Have experience in fabrication and welding. Proficient in the use of MIG, TIG welding steel, stainless steel and aluminium an advantage
  • Have experience operating/programming CNC press and rolling machinery an advantage

This is a full-time permanent position within our Lasertek team. To be successful in this role you must be motivated and be willing to put in the effort required to complete jobs in a timely manner. Attention to detail and highest quality workmanship are paramount.
