At Australian Panels, we pride ourselves on being Australia’s leading manufacturer of particle board products for all joinery and structural flooring applications.

We are seeking trade qualified fitters, preferably with industrial experience to join our team.

About the role

Based in Mount Gambier, South Australia, these are full-time permanent positions, offering job security and long-term career opportunities. 

Providing support to our maintenance department, you will be responsible for project work, preventative, scheduled & unscheduled breakdown maintenance, fault finding and trouble shooting.

Options of work rosters are, working a day shift 8.5-hour day (Monday to Friday 9 day fortnight) or a roster of a 12-hour rotating 4 shift (2 days/2nights/4 off) roster.

Working roster options and preferences can be discussed at time of interview

Responsibilities include

  • Working within a team environment and autonomously in either day work and/or 4 shift roster
  • Participate in routine maintenance functions for the manufacturing facility
  • Monitor equipment to identify possible breakdowns and repair as required
  • Maintaining and improving existing manufacturing facility systems
  • Fault finding and problem solving, identifying root causes of machinery failures assisting in elimination of reoccurring failures
  • Providing technical support to production personnel
  • Training and mentoring apprentices
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement to safety standards and systems
  • Flexibility to take on a broad role to support the team and needs of the plant
  • Ensure all work performed is in line with business policy and procedures

About you

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • An appropriate Engineering trade qualification - Certificate III (or higher)
  • Experience in machine trouble shooting, problem solving and fault finding
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Demonstrated experience in pneumatic and hydraulic equipment (preferred)
  • Established metal machining skills (preferred)
  • Experience in fabrication/welding (an advantage)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively independently or in a group
  • Strong focus on safety
  • Self-motivated and be willing to put in the effort required to complete jobs in a timely manner
  • Attention to detail and highest quality workmanship are paramount
